The convergence of Product Line Engineering and Product Line Operations (known as the PLE&O convergence) is an emerging trend that relates to the product line specific issues addressed by DevOps, which promotes the overall efficient interoperability of engineering and business operations. According to Krueger, this convergence will enable forward-thinking organizations to create highly efficient product line operations.
"A growing number of the industry's most innovative enterprises are implementing new approaches where PLE methods and tools are being applied to align engineering and business operations," said Krueger. "These approaches enable whole factor improvements in efficiency, time-to-market, product line scalability, and quality. At Innovate, I will spotlight how this convergence is the next step forward in the evolution of how companies create and deliver their product lines – from product portfolio planning to engineering, manufacturing, sales, and maintenance."
